In the Performance and Racing series, Ergon handles help prevent many common issues faced by cyclists, such as finger numbness, hand soreness, and forearm discomfort. These symptoms are caused by excessive pressure on the sensitive areas of the palm and improper hand positioning.

Anatomically designed Ergon handles provide 100% contact with the handle, whereas a round handle only offers 60% contact surface area. The pressure on the ulnar nerve is significantly reduced, which in turn helps prevent hand fatigue. Additionally, the anatomical shape of the Ergon GP, GS, and GX handles ensures the hand is always correctly positioned. If the handle is properly installed, improper hand positioning is impossible. The handle also helps relieve stress on the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome) and wrist pain.
