In the Performance and Racing series, Ergon grips help prevent many issues familiar to cyclists, such as finger numbness, hand pain, and forearm discomfort. These symptoms are caused by excessive pressure on the sensitive areas of the palm and incorrect hand positioning. Anatomically designed Ergon grips provide 100% contact with the grip, whereas a round grip offers only 60% contact area.

The pressure applied to the ulnar nerve is significantly reduced, which helps prevent hand fatigue. Additionally, the anatomical shape of Ergon's GP, GS, and GX grips keeps the hand in the correct position at all times. When correctly installed, improper hand positioning is impossible. The grip also helps prevent strain on the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome) and wrist pain.
