In the Performance and Racing series, Ergon grips prevent many common cyclist issues, such as numbness in the fingers, hand pain, and forearm discomfort. These symptoms are due to excessive pressure on the sensitive areas of the palm and incorrect hand positioning. Anatomically designed Ergon grips provide 100% contact with the grip, whereas a round grip offers only 60% contact area.

The pressure on the ulnar nerve is significantly reduced, which helps prevent hand fatigue. If the grip is properly installed, incorrect hand positioning is impossible. The grip also helps prevent strain on the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome) and wrist pain.
