In the Performance and Racing series, Ergon grips prevent many common cyclist problems, like finger numbness, hand pain, and forearm discomfort. These symptoms are often due to excessive pressure on the sensitive areas of the palms and incorrect hand positioning. Anatomically designed Ergon grips provide 100% contact with the grip, whereas round grips only offer a 60% contact surface.

The pressure on the ulnar nerve is significantly reduced, which helps prevent hand fatigue. If the grip is installed correctly, improper hand positioning is impossible. The grip also prevents strain on the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome) and wrist pain.
