In the Performance and Racing series, Ergon handles prevent many common issues for cyclists, such as numb fingers, hand pain, and forearm discomfort. These symptoms are caused by high pressure on sensitive areas of the palm and incorrect hand positioning. Anatomically designed Ergon handles provide 100% contact with the handle, whereas a round handle only has a 60% contact surface area.

The pressure on the ulnar nerve is significantly reduced, which helps prevent hand fatigue. When the handle is installed correctly, incorrect hand positioning is impossible. The handle also prevents stress on the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome) and wrist pain.
