Infernal technology!
Thanks to the DuraSkin® anti-tear fabric, the Grand Prix 4-Season withstands even the most extreme conditions. In the Paris-Roubaix race, the "Hell of the North," cyclists using DuraSkin® tires have faced minimal tire-related problems during the race.
Thanks to a specially wear-resistant carbon rubber compound, the tire is described as excellent for wear resistance and fantastic for grip on wet roads and in low temperatures. With the 23 mm, 25 mm, and 28 mm versions, the Grand Prix 4-Season allows the right tire choice for various surfaces and comfort levels.
The Double Vectran Breaker layer under the tread elevates cut and puncture protection to the highest level. The Continental GP 4-season sets the standard: top scores in all aspects! Lightweight and fast-rolling, the GP 4-season achieved the best result by providing incredibly good grip and puncture protection even in wet and cold conditions. Test results from Road Bike magazine 02/11.
Vectran is Continental's developed and patented puncture protection that:
- Is lighter and more flexible while providing more effective protection than comparable nylon puncture protection.
- Does not compromise the tire's rolling resistance.
- Is a high-tech fiber synthetically produced based on a natural model.
- Is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP), similar to spider silk.
- Spun from melted Vectra liquid polymer and further processed into a multi-strand yarn.
Like spider silk, Vectran resists tearing extremely well while being lightweight. These qualities make it an excellent material for use in high-end puncture protection in Continental tires.
DuraSkin®
Tires with DuraSkin® reinforced sidewalls must be able to withstand hits as they are used in the most challenging conditions. In messenger use, the tires rub against curbs, and in touring bikes, they traverse continents without wearing out. In racing, they must withstand the toughest tests, like Paris-Roubaix. High-quality polyamide material protects the tire casing from the harshest conditions. These tires are easy to recognize by their brown sidewalls.
