Vectran
Vectran is a puncture protection material developed and patented by Continental, which:

• Is lighter and more flexible while offering better protection than a comparable nylon puncture protection.
• Does not weaken the tire's rolling resistance.
• Is a high-tech fiber synthesized in imitation of a natural model.
• Is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP), like spider silk.
• Is spun from melted Vectra liquid polymer and further processed into multi-strand yarn.

Just like a spider’s web, Vectran is exceptionally tear-resistant while being lightweight. These unique properties make it an excellent material for high-quality puncture protection in Continental tires.

DuraSkin®
Tires with DuraSkin® reinforced sidewalls must be able to withstand impacts as they are used in the toughest conditions. In courier service, the tires graze against curbs, and on touring bikes, they cross continents without wearing out. In racing, they endure the hardest tests, like the Paris Roubaix. The high-quality polyamide material protects the tire casing from the worst conditions. These tires are easily recognized by their brown sidewalls.
