In the Performance and Racing series, Ergon handlebar grips help prevent many problems familiar to cyclists, such as finger numbness, hand soreness, and forearm discomfort. These symptoms are due to high pressure on the sensitive areas of the palm and incorrect hand positioning. Anatomically designed Ergon grips provide 100% contact with the grip, while a round grip offers only a 60% contact area.

The pressure on the ulnar nerve is significantly reduced, which helps prevent hand fatigue. If the grip is correctly installed, incorrect hand positioning is impossible. The grip also helps prevent strain on the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome) and wrist pain.
