A unique surface material, produced only in Germany, revolutionizing the market. With the legendary Black-Chili compound, we've answered the eternal question—the best grip and rolling resistance. Advanced polymers and a specially developed carbon fiber particle mixture ensure unique performance, whether it's a road bike, gravel, or mountain bike.
Black Chili
A top-quality rubber compound developed by Continental, compared to ordinary rubber compounds:
- Reduces rolling resistance by 26%
- Increases grip by 30%
- Improves wear resistance by 5%!
Vectran
Vectran is a puncture protection developed and patented by Continental, which:
- Is lighter and more flexible while offering better protection than equivalent nylon puncture protection.
- Does not impair the tire's rolling resistance.
- Is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fiber based on a natural model.
- Is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP), like a spider web.
- Is spun from molten Vectra liquid polymer and further processed into multifilament yarn.
Like a spider web, Vectran is highly resistant to tearing while remaining lightweight. These properties make it an excellent material for use in top-of-the-line puncture protection in Continental tires.
TT, or Time Trial, means racing against the clock. Entire stage races can be decided in time trials, making it an excellent reason to manufacture particularly fast time trial tires.
While the Podium TT is primarily designed for time trials, it is a favorite among professionals even in regular road races. This is due to the tire's design: the latest BlackChili compound ensures this time trial specialist, available in 19 and 22 mm widths, is not only super fast but also offers excellent puncture protection with its Vectran Breaker. Being lightweight, the 22 mm version of the Podium allows for minimal rotational energy. The tread is thinned to 0.7 millimeters, which is enough for a few days of intense competition. The tire's tread pattern makes it look ultra-fast even when standing still.
